TAI NYC (formerly TAI Chiropractic) · Midtown Manhattan

Sports medicine for people who want to keep moving.

Not a technique. A diagnosis, and a plan built for you.

Whether your pain started yesterday or has been coming back for years, I start with what’s going on today — then find out why it happened. Sometimes the answer is hands-on care. Sometimes it’s exercise, a change in how you live, an injection, or surgery. You’ll always know why. I see every patient myself, from the first conversation to treatment and exercise.

Hiro Nakano, DC, DACBSP · USA Fencing medical staff · 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games, Team USA volunteer medical staff

Dr. Hiro Nakano assessing shoulder movement during a hands-on examination at TAI NYC

Who comes here

This isn’t a typical chiropractic or physical therapy office. Most people find me because they want something different from the usual approach — more time, a real assessment, and an explanation that makes sense. You don’t need to have tried anything else first.

Runners and athletes

Dealing with an injury, returning to training, or trying to stay ahead of the next one.

Busy professionals

Neck, back, or shoulders that have stopped settling down after years of desk work and commuting.

Active adults

People who want to keep doing what they love — and stay strong and independent for decades.

My patients range in age from 10 to 102, from people just starting to exercise to Olympic athletes.

How I work

Find what’s wrong — and why

A careful exam and a differential diagnosis tell me what’s most likely going on. Then I look at how you move, work, train, and sleep to understand why it happened.

Hands-on care, checked on the spot

Manual therapy is central to my work. I choose the method and force for you that day — not from a fixed protocol — and we recheck pain and movement right away to see what changed.

A plan built around your goal

Exercise, daily habits, and — when needed — imaging, injections, or surgery. The mix depends on your goal, and it changes as you do.

Who you’ll see

I’m Hiro Nakano, a sports chiropractor and Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP). I traveled with the U.S. team as a volunteer member of the medical staff at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima and the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. Since 2018, I’ve also worked with USA Fencing, joining national team training camps two to three times a year as part of the medical staff. I have also treated Olympic fencers at every Summer Games from London 2012 through Paris 2024. I opened my practice in Midtown in 2010.

My roots are in Japan. I’m the fourth generation of Nakano Seitai, a hands-on clinical practice my family founded in 1926. I trained and treated patients at the family clinic before moving to the U.S. for chiropractic and sports medicine education. Western sports medicine and a century of hands-on clinical practice — that combination shapes how I work today.
